I tried not to think about all the shit that had just taken place between myself and Cara, but with her naked body pressed against mine, it was hard to think of anything else. “What a way to wake up,” I said with a contented sigh.

“I just need to get ready.”

Cara said nothing else before turning and walking out of the bedroom. Watching the sheet slip through the doorway, I couldn’t help but feel like shit.

Groaning, I headed toward the shower. I hadn’t lied to Cara when I said I needed to get to work. I did. I had been working overtime to try and figure out a way to keep her and our baby safe, which was something I was determined to do. I had been so wrapped up in her and the baby that I had ignored other things. That left a power vacuum, which I was sure that my brother had been filling in my absence.

I would love nothing more than to spend all day screwing Cara senseless, but I needed to take care of my responsibilities first.
